Competitions,
Auditions & Music Festivals
Students
at Schaum Music School may be entered in local competitions
for added performance goals and professional evaluation. Participation
in these programs is optional. All have an entrance fee.
National
Federation of Music Clubs Festivals
The
Schaum Music School is a member of this organization which
offers annual auditions for students playing a specified repertoire.
Students are individually rated by local judges who offer
comments and suggestions. Five-level ratings range from Fair
to Superior. A student who achieves a Superior rating for
three successive years receives a trophy ('gold cup'). Students
may enter as early as age 6.
Solo
and Ensemble Festivals
Piano
students may enter this annual contest administered by the
Wisconsin School Music
Association. In addition to a piano solo category, there
are opportunities to participate as part of an ensemble or
as an accompanist. Repertoire is limited to specific titles.
Students may enter starting in 6th grade. Entry forms are
available from the public school music department. High school
students who receive a high rating locally may also participate
in a regional ('state') level contest.
